Bihar gets its first software technology park

The Government of India has set up Bihar’s first STPI in Patna, complete with state-of-the-art facilities for high speed data connectivity through statellite earth station and radio communication.

Patna: The Government of India has set up Bihar's first Software Technology Park (STPI) in Patna, complete with state-of-the-art facilities for reliable, high speed data connectivity through statellite earth station and radio communication.

The STPI facility, coming up at Patliputra Industrial Area in Patna, will also act as a resource centre for software exporting units by providing incubation facilities, besides helping entrepreneurs in the state to set up their facility within STPI and in making a beginning to boost IT exports from the state.

Recently, the state government had announced working on six major e-Governance initiatives worth Rs 160 crore with Tata Consultancy services (TCS), all of which will give boost to IT investment in the state.

STPI is set up by the Department of Communication and Information Technology in India, with the objective of encouraging, promoting and boosting the software exports from India, and the Patna centre will help in boosting state's revenue and also incubating entrepreneurs in the state.

Update on Software Industry

Hello Everybody,

I am revisiting this forum after 3 years from the time I posted my notes here. Just wanted to hear from you all participants about the progress that our state has attained in the establishment of software industry.
I don't know if I am correct or not, but I had even sent a mail to the CM's office suggesting to start a software company in partnership with private company; this step would have brought in confidence level in private companies that would have probably brought in entrepreneurs to establish their software units at their own.

I would really want to read your experiences on this matter.

Thanks,
Pankaj Sinha

Hi,

I am looking for some highly qualified software professionals from bihar with expertise in different fields of software engineering.

I wish I have some of IIT/REC experienced
software professionals, assisting me in setting up a start up software venture in Bihar
we could really work together and create a decent product company from Bihar.

I know its a Hercules task to create a product company out of nowhere, but if some of us who are working with MNCs join together, we can surely come up with a competitive product.

I would be obliged if some senior Bihari expats assist us.

I am a fresh engg graduate and i also want to do something for my state,, so i am trying to set up my own ITES company in Bihar, in this quarter...

That'll at least leave me with a satisfaction that I took an initiative to do something for my home-state.

Great initiative by Mr. Nitish Kumar. I will be the first person to come back to my state. I wanted to do something for my state. Waiting for the day when I can do something for my mother land.

Its a cool harbinger of prosperity and grace... Wish I could do something... I WANT TO COME BACK !!! Thanks to Nitish Kumar for his all good work and I wish I could do something to be fuel of this new change... Currently I am working in Bangalore and looking for any good opportunity so that I can come back to my mother land.. It is sounding selfish but need to support my family also.. :-(

Special thanks to Mr. Nitish kumar who play very important work regarding IT industry...

Hi,

The most important concerns prevailing among the IT professionals regarding the investment in software sector are:

1) Safety concerns, like will the companies be provided adequate security against the anti-social elements, if any?

This is an important factor, because the impact is on human mind. And building confidence in the investors is going to be a very challenging task for the state government.

I personally feel that under the leadership of Mr. Nitish Kumar, this factor can be addressed very efficiently.

2) Infrastructure, eg., Electricity & Back-up facilities: This is another important factor on which companies are dependent.

The sooner the concerns are addressed, investment would come at fast pace.
We all hope for the betterment of our state Bihar.

Thx. & Regds.,
Pankaj Sinha

So, help other young people and guide then in following :-

1-->Presentation Skills

3-->Tech skills

1&2 is very important where we lack most.

Thanks
Kamal Pandey

It is really a very unbelievable. If it starts successfully, I will be first person who will be back in Bihar and co-oprarate my full efforts to reach Bihar a high horizon.Wish you best of luck to all Bihari as well as Nitish Kumar.

Let us see , when good fortune strikes Biharis.
The plan is really good but shouldn't be delay as it usually happens in Bihar.

Please try to invite small companies, there are many people from Bihar doing IT and IT enabled business outside Bihar.

Only one thing we need is corruption free people to deal with.

Abhishek Kumar

I feel very much proud to say that Nitish Kumnar is doing something for Bihar. The steps taken by Nitish Kumar will ensure IT companies to invest in Bihar and it will help in improving the economy as well as improving the employment status in the state.

It would be really great if we have a few Software Companies opening their centers in Bihar so that the Brain Drain that's happening currently reduces.

I am sure there would be many Software Engineers who would love to move back to Patna if provided with an opportunity.

Bahut jald aisa waqt aayega jab hum sharm se nahi balki garv se bolenge ki hum bihari hai....................
special thanks to Nitish Kumar

I am very sure many of IT professional from Bihar will be back.If they have any opportunity in Bihar.

par ye bihar kab sudhrega ..............
kab kuch hoga pata nahi

We should all thanks to Nitish Kumar for this great steps.
Now he should concentrate on gaining confidence of some of the IT companies,
so that they can start opening their new offices in Bihar.
As many of IT professional wants to come back their state but they are moving back due to no scope in IT sector.
I bet many of IT professional from Bihar will be back to their state if software company sets it foot in BIHAR.

Well, this is a very good step taken by state government in collaboration with the central government. Now, the next step should be to build confidence in the investors to set up their units in Patna. It will be one of the best units in India.
Pankaj

Great
Dr Ananthakrishnan, We need people like you...

It is with great pleasure we welcome the STPI facility. This is an important measure in Governments effort to improve IT & Communication infrastructure. The Telephones and Internet has become a ubiquitous productivity and communication tool for companies end users.

This is an encouraging platform by the Government for growth and capitalizing on the opportunity in Bihar.

One hopes that with the opening of the STPI, the brain-drain which is always an issue with less developed part of the world, diminishes somewhat. In any case, people outside aren't taking too well to Biharis doing well in outside world. Kudos to GoI for opening up such a centre in Patna.

Nitish Kumar is the last hope for Bihar. We wish him luck and hope that Bihar progresses.

Kudos to government of Nitish Kumar which has started developmental work in Bihar. Let him do more not only in this area but others also
