'Clouding' the Cities
For a highly populated country like India, it is really a herculean task for the government to provide efficient basic civic services to all through its web-net of municipal entities, each having their own Rules and Acts of governance. An automation drive for rolling out e-Governance schemes for the municipal offices may be a good thought for providing a quick and reliable citizen-centric service.

Data centre: 7 Steps to tide challenges
Considering, the amount of power a typical data centre guzzles, it is not surprising at all that it also happens to be the first port-on-call for the greening exercise. Typically in a data centre, the power consumption is as follows:50 per cent for cooling, 37 per cent for running the IT infrastructure, 10 per cent conversion loss and 3 per cent lighting.

I have applied for my son's passport, who is a minor and the passport office is reluctant to put my name on the delivery address (as a Guardian I am his mother and not father). Is Govt office reluctant to give authority to receive the passport from Post Office (they want father's signature only and not mother's)of her son to his mother when the Court has given?
We talk of e-Governance and a lot of talk, talk & talk.
My passport application says Awaiting Police verification where as the verification was done over four weeks ago. But the police station is awaiting rewards from applicant to forward the report to passport office for over four weeks after verification.
Where is honesty or integrity in this. Do we pay even for getting the report released from the police station to passport office?
If the E passport has passed the test and will be implemented next year, what is the necessity to extend this mass utility technology only to a select few? In any case these are eminent people and need no scrutiny as the other travelers. Beside, isn't it the common mans tax money used for these R&D projects? What makes these select few to be the first? If past incidents are evidence of such projects starting and fizzling out without serving its purpose, except for the officials unaccountability and large sums of money misappropriated. The common man will still be a victim of corrupt officials. Guaranteed. Period.
I am a business man travel from one country to other country, the first mobile number writing on top is the number i use in Nigeria the other is the number i use in south Africa. i am good business man supply of Land resources, like cassava, ginger, lime stone, coco, snail, coconut shell, doing business with order country, helping some company to establish in west and south Africa.

Can the passport authorities not cut down the long queue in their offices? After all passport fees are now substantial. Does any of these messages read by anyone? They are not able to provide a simple passport through post and are launching new technology.
If you provide thru online then how will you check all the document? fraud may also happen. give us all the positive and negative thing in that and when you are going to implement all over india?
this is usefull but at the same time risk(government). manual is better that online only for passport
pass port from
If the tests have been made successfully then ideally it should be implemented as early as possible (> 3 months) rather than a inordinate period of one year. Earlier it was said that the e-passport will be available in October 08 which is now extended to May 09. Nevertheless the project is really worth appreciating for the fact that it is aimed at reducing the lead time and cost for issuing a passport. What is the point in filing an online application when you have to finally appear before the officer with all the original documents at their given date and time. It unnecessary delays the Process. Just fill your form, appear before the officer with all the required documents at your will and the process of issuing the passport will begin thereafter.
If Government is not able to give facility to common people then why this people are advertise like this Indian Government is not capable to control Inflation rate then how can they prevent to issue bogus e-passport?

Firstly control inflation then corruption and then develop good infrastructure and for do all this reduce all the politicians salary and other perks and increase salary of "Teacher, Doctors and police man" this will help in develop nation not e-passport
Changing any item in a passport can still be made with cyber crimes becoming more sophisticated and rampant. The critical issue would be enabling the verifier - wherever located to cross check with the original reference database to check of changes if any made. For this purpose, it will be imperative to have a global convention on the security features in a passport and provisions for cross checking at immigrations across the globe.
There is of course another type of issue that this will not be addressed by this change - that is of improper issuance. The mode enumerated does not address that issue. The laxity in the current procedures will ensure the same creeping into the new procedures.
What will be the time taken from providing details online and receipt of the passport. Hopefully e-passports would mean lesser waiting time.

The 'e' is getting into more and more spheres of our daily lives. e-passport being the latest one and no one is complaining except the few fraudsters may be. More power to the 'e' so that ultimately our very 'e'xistence begins with an 'e'.
